Great Barrier Buses operates a number of full day & half day tours throughout the summer months. These are usually run in conjunction with the Subritzky ferries but any prearranged tour is possible if booked in advance.
The day tour goes up to Port FitzRoy and back stopping off at places of interest along the way. These include
Pigeon Post in Claris & Windy Canyon. The tour is run by a qualified local driver and a full commentary is provided in the vehicle.
Great Barrier Buses has three travel passes that offer unlimited use of their scheduled services for the duration of your stay on the
island.
ALL travel Passes include wharf or airport transfers and unlimited use of all the scheduled services (over five return departures each day) for the duration of the pass.
You can also travel on the "People & Post" service between Tryphena & Port FitzRoy.
Check out our list of recommended walks and make up a combination to suit your own level. There will
usually be other travellers to team up with to do the longer walks.
You can use your bus pass to access Mountain Biking, Kayaking, Horse Riding, Fishing, Golf &
Surfing activities on the island. You can pre book any of these
activities through our
Travel Centre.
There is a growing industry of local crafts on the island. Whenever there is a local event or display we include transport
to it in the day's programme.
