Great Barrier Island Travel

Getting Here - Planning your Trip

Getting to the Barrier can be an adventure.  As a remote location there may occasionally be changes required to travel plans due to weather or other factors.  A degree of flexibility and the ability to enjoy a unique experience is helpful.

Always take into account the weather and the potential for delays during the busy holiday periods.
Plan your flight times & boat times carefully. Some flight times are much more reliable than others.
If you have connections to make when returning to the mainland allow plenty of time for these.
Remember the weight limit on the airlines to avoid luggage being left behind.

We can help you plan your travel to & from the island. Email your proposed trip and we will offer free, independent advice on how to minimize any possible disruptions.
